U.S. approved Pfizer’s oral medicine for home treatment against COVID-19

The first oral medicine against COVID-19, manufactured by Pfizer, has been approved by the U.S. for home treatment in order to minimize the risk of hospitalization and death.

The decision by the Food and Drug Administration comes as the United States prepares for a new surge of infections caused by the omicron variant.

Pfizer’s prescription tablet is the first in the United States that does not require an injection or IV, which has been a long-awaited milestone in the fight against the virus.

According to officials, only tens of thousands of people will be able to use it for treatment at the beginning because it will not be produced in huge quantities.

The medicine has been approved for use in high-risk patients who are at a high risk of developing severe illnesses.
