One wounded in his Downtown Long Beach residence following a verbal altercation

Long Beach, California – One man was injured in a shooting that occurred inside his residence in Downtown Long Beach early Tuesday, according to authorities.

Upon arrival in the 300 block of Magnolia Avenue near the Governor George Deukmeijan Courthouse around 5:34 a.m., officers found the man with apparent gunshot wounds laying on the floor in his house.

According to Long Beach Police Department spokesman Brandon Fahey, the incident occurred as a result of a verbal altercation between two men. According to Fahey, the victim was inside his house when he engaged in an argument with a man who was standing outside. According to Fahey, the man outside then fired into the house, striking the victim in the upper body several times.

According to authorities, the shooter ran away from the scene. There were no other recorded injuries.

The Long Beach Fire Department transported the victim to a nearby hospital as police investigators searched the area and discovered evidence, including shell casings.

According to police, gang detectives are looking into the incident, and the investigation is still continuing.
