Authorities offered reward for information that may lead to an arrest in connection with 2021 fatal shooting

Any information given to authorities in reference to the murder of a 16-year-old boy who was fatally shot while walking out of a party that might possibly lead to the arrest of a suspect will be rewarded with $10,000, detectives said Monday.

Police say that Ricardo Trujillo Ramirez was killed in the 1900 block of East Pine Street on September 24, 2021 at about 11:50 p.m.

Ramirez and his friends were approached by a group of people while walking out of a party in Compton, and one of them pulled out a gun and fired shots at Ramirez. The suspect’s description was not released.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is offering the reward, which was announced at the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau headquarters in Monterey Park on Monday morning.

The retired Colonel who is in charge of the United States Cadet Corp program, which Ricardo was a part of for seven years, has contributed an extra $5,000 to the prize fund and encouraged others to contribute as well.

“Not only did I lose my boyfriend, but I also lost my best friend. And it’s just very unjust in the way that his life was taken from him,‘’ Gabriella Santiago said at the news conference.

If you have any information in connection to the homicide, please call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
