Hit-and-run accident leaves one man dead

Long Beach, California – A man from Long Beach died after being struck in a hit-and-run accident, and authorities are looking for the suspect.

The victim, 37, was standing in the roadway of Artesia Boulevard’s eastbound lanes, just west of Rose Avenue, when he was struck by the driver of a dark-colored vehicle, according to police. The driver of the sedan was able to flee from the scene and was last seen going east on Artesia Boulevard, authorities say.

According to authorities, when officers arrived at the location at about 11:15 p.m., they discovered the man laying in the road at Artesia Boulevard. Police helped the victim until the Long Beach Fire Department came and took him to the hospital, where he died of his injuries.

According to police, speed may have played a role in the crash.

The victim’s identity has not been revealed until his next of kin is notified.
