Authorities released the name of teenager who died in a fiery single-vehicle crash

Los Angeles, California – The identity of the teenage driver who was killed on the 101 Freeway in a fiery, single-vehicle accident on Friday morning has been released by authorities.

The 16-year-old, Tristen King, lost control of the vehicle around 4 a.m. while traveling southbound on the 101 Freeway near the Melrose Avenue off-ramp and crashed.

King’s body was extricated from his burning vehicle and was taken to a hospital for treatment of what appeared to be life-threatening injuries. He succumbed to his injuries later in the hospital. Blunt-force traumatic injuries were found to be the cause of King’s death, according to the medical examiner.

Authorities said that speeding played a role in the accident.
