Fire crews put out a fire in Downey strip mall

Downey, California – Several stores in a strip mall were damaged by a fire that started in a restaurant and spread across the structure. Firefighters from the Downey Fire Department put out the flames.

Firefighters responded to a report of a fire at around 5:45 a.m. in the 8000 block of Firestone Boulevard. Until the arrival of the crews, the fire went up to the level of a second alarm.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire in about an hour and a half.

Fire investigators said the fire originated in the restaurant, but information about the cause of the fire was not released.

There were no reported injuries.
