Average gas prices in California still rising
Even if the average cost per gallon of gas has decreased nationwide, prices in California are still increasing.
Inversely proportional to the national average price of $4.27, which has fallen from $4.33 over the last week, the average price of gas in California has increased to $5.80 from $5.72 over the last seven days.
Motorists in California would benefit from the initiatives proposed by state politicians. Democratic lawmakers yesterday proposed a $400 gas refund to be implemented.
As Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris pointed out, “to put that in context, for most vehicles, for most Californians, this $400 rebate is the equivalent of a one-year gas tax holiday.”
On the other hand, Republicans in the state legislature proposed that they would want to see the state’s $0.51 gas tax lifted.
Gov. Newsom has said that he supports some type of refund, although he has not yet detailed his specific plan.
