Outage problem in Verizon service solved late Wednesday

Los Angeles, California – Verizon service was returned to normal late Wednesday evening after customers in Los Angeles and other parts of the West Coast reported facing outages.

A significant increase in outage complaints from Los Angeles, Seattle, Sacramento, and other cities could be seen throughout the day on the outage reporting site Downdetector.

The majority of the reports were from people who used mobile phones. Verizon officials said the outages were due to a fiber problem in the network.

“A fiber issue in the core of the network caused some of our customers to experience intermittent call failures today. The issue was identified and resolved by Verizon engineers, and the majority of impacted customers should be seeing service as usual. If any customer is still experiencing lingering issues, please restart your device. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused,” Verizon officials said.

Verizon Support responded to customers’ questions and concerns through its Twitter account.

The problem was fixed as of late Wednesday evening, and the service was returned to normal.
