Long Beach police investigating a possible gang-related shooting that injured one

Long Beach, California – Authorities in Long Beach are investigating what is believed to be a gang-related shooting that left one man wounded on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the incident took place in the 100 block of East Market Street at around 1:24 p.m. Two men were in the vicinity when they were approached by two other individuals, asking them where they were from, and at least one of them fired rounds at them.

One of the men was taken to a hospital for treatment of a wound to the upper body, while the other remained uninjured. It was said that the hospitalized man was in a non-life-threatening condition.

Authorities said the attackers left the scene before the arrival of the officers and no arrests were made.

Detectives closed off the area around the crime scene for a while while they looked for evidence and conducted an investigation.

Authorities said they believe the incident was gang-related, but the victim’s friends are denying those allegations, claiming their friend was not a member of a gang.
