Whittier, California – A man has been arrested in connection with a brush fire in an unoccupied Whittier area that spread to nearby residences.
The fire, dubbed the Sycamore Fire, completely burned at least two residences in the 11700 block of Banyon Rim Drive.
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department stated in a statement Friday that the incident is being investigated by the Special Enforcement Bureau Arson Explosives Detail, and that investigators have arrested a suspect who was found in the canyon with burns.
Authorities said the suspect who was taken into custody is a Whittier resident in his 50s. His identity was not released.
