Cerritos fiery accident claimed lives of two people
Cerritos, California – Two individuals died in a violent head-on accident that occurred after a driver made a U-turn on a freeway in Southern California, according to authorities.
Witnesses going southbound on the freeway reported to the California Highway Patrol that a motorist in a Hyundai stopped on the right shoulder, turned around, and headed north in the southbound lanes of the road. The Hyundai crashed into a Honda Civic, and both vehicles were engulfed in flames as a witness dialed 911 to report the wrong-way motorist.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a witness extracted the Honda driver from the vehicle and started CPR, but the victim died at the scene. She was identified only as a woman in her twenties or thirties.
“It’s tragic that something like this happened to her on this Friday early morning,” CHP Officer, Marcos Iniguez said.
The second driver, who was trapped inside the Hyundai, died on the scene. According to the California Highway Patrol, it was not immediately clear why the car pulled over and turned around.
