Water main break flooded West Hollywood neighborhood

West Hollywood, California – A water main break this morning in the West Hollywood neighborhood flooded several parking garages.

The water main, which was eight inches in diameter, broke shortly before 1:05 a.m. in the neighborhood of Hacienda Place and Fountain Avenue, only a few blocks from Sunset Boulevard.

Crews from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power were sent to the scene to stop the flow of water and begin cleaning operations. The water in the garages had receded, but it had left a substantial amount of mud and debris behind.

It was not known what had caused the break. According to the LADWP, approximately ten customers were without service.

Fountain Avenue was blocked between Hacienda Place and Fountain Avenue until further notice.
