One dead after being fatally struck by a train in Long Beach

Long Beach, California – One person was killed in Long Beach following a crash involving a pedestrian and a train, according to authorities.

LBPD and LBFD responded to the scene of the fatal collision.

According to the information provided by the Long Beach Police Department, the tragic accident took place in the 100 block of First Street at approximately 4:02 p.m. Responding officers located a man after arriving at the scene.

Crews from the Fire Department arrived at the scene immediately after receiving the call and declared the victim dead at the scene. Authorities said the man died after being struck by the Metro A Line train.

The fatal crash caused closures for traffic and pedestrians in the area.

An investigation is ongoing in order to determine what happened.
