Single-vehicle accident caused power outage, closure of roads

Long Beach, California – Over 300 customers of Southern California Edison were left without electricity on Sunday after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole in the North Bixby Knolls.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the crash took place in the early morning hours of March 20 in the area of Orange Avenue and Del Amo Boulevard, and 319 customers were affected by the outage caused as a result of the crash. Traffic congestion was also recorded in the area as the outage impacted traffic lights as well.

Information about whether there were any injuries recorded was not released.

According to police, Del Amo Boulevard was closed to traffic between Cherry Avenue and Orange Avenue due to the outage.

Southern California Edison crews were sent to the location for repairs, and the power was restored at around 3 p.m. on Sunday.
