Man taken into custody after his mother’s remains were found in a garbage can

Camarillo, California – A 25-year-old man from Ventura County was taken into custody in connection with the death of his 62-year-old mother, whose corpse was discovered inside of a garbage can.

Tomoko Hoetzlein’s body was discovered in a garbage can outside her Camarillo home on Friday, where she lived with her son.

Early on Friday morning, law enforcement officers were sent to an apartment complex located in the 300 block of Townsite Promenade and found the woman’s remains.

Evidence discovered at the scene pointed to David Hoetzlein as the main suspect.

According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, David Hoetzlein was taken into custody on suspicion of having committed murder.

David is being held in lieu of bail of $3 million at this time. The arraignment is set to take place on Tuesday.
