Access to waters off Sunset Beach closed following a shark sighting
Huntington Beach, California – Authorities in Huntington Beach decided to close access to the waters off Sunset Beach between Warner Avenue and Anderson Street on Monday after a shark was spotted in the area.
According to a spokesperson for Huntington Beach, a lifeguard was informed about the shark sighting before 1 p.m. by a person on the beach.
Authorities said it was not a baby shark since the shark was described as being between 8 and 12 feet.
The Huntington Beach policy in the case of a shark sighting is to close access to the water for a minimum of four hours if the shark is of a certain size or displays aggressive behavior.
