50-year-old woman fatally stabbed after argument with her son

Long Beach, California – A woman was fatally stabbed on Tuesday morning as a result of an argument between her and her son in the 1000 block of Pacific Avenue in Long Beach’s Wilmore area, according to police.

Officers were sent to the location around 9:37 a.m. after someone reported hearing a person yelling for help.

First responders discovered a woman in her 50s who was unconscious inside an apartment. According to authorities, the Long Beach Fire Department transferred her to a local hospital, where she was later declared dead.

“The son is believed to have stabbed the mother multiple times in the upper body during an argument inside their shared apartment. He is currently in custody and being interviewed by detectives who will determine booking charge(s) at the completion of their investigation,” police said in a statement.

According to the Long Beach Police Department’s booking log records, Nathaniel Eugene King, 24, was arrested on suspicion of one count of murder and one count of violating parole. He was taken into custody. According to the inmate records of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, he is being held without bail at this time.

In order to conduct their investigation, police closed off a small part of 10th Street between Cedar and Pacific avenues for a few hours.

Detectives are interviewing possible witnesses and gathering more evidence regarding the murder.
