Westbound 91 Freeway to be closed over the weekend as part of the ongoing $270 million express lane connector project

Corona, California – A section of the westbound 91 Freeway in Corona will be blocked over the weekend as part of a construction project that is currently underway.

From Friday at 9 p.m. through Monday at 5 a.m., the westbound lanes between McKinley and Main streets will be blocked, according to Caltrans.

However, because of the gusty and potentially dangerous Santa Ana winds that swept over the Southland, the closure had to be postponed until this weekend instead of last.

The closure is part of a $270 million express lane connector project that will connect the fast lanes on the 15 and 91 freeways.

The closure will take place in order for workers to build support structures above the 91 Freeway.

It is recommended that drivers use the 60 Freeway as an alternate route.
