One person taken into custody after wounding an officer in a Pomona apartment standoff, two other suspects remain at large

Pomona, California – An officer with the Pomona Police Department was taken to a hospital after being shot by a barricaded suspect, who was also wounded by police.

The shooting happened in the area of Angela Street and the 2300 block of Chanslor Street near the 60 Freeway, according to the police department, which reported the incident at 7:45 p.m. No information was immediately available regarding what led up to the shooting.

The suspect was shot while being locked inside an apartment and was later treated by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics on the scene. He was arrested around 8 p.m.

The wounded officer was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to the leg.

According to Deputy Miguel Meza of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau, two more suspects remain at large.
