More than $800,000 fine imposed on Torrance business for violating wage regulations

Torrance, California – A more than $800,000 fine was imposed on a local car wash after it was found to have underpaid its employees.

Torrance Car Wash was found to be in violation of the state’s minimum wage, overtime, and contract pay regulations by the state’s Labor Commissioner’s Office.

According to the findings of the investigation, employees who worked more than 80 hours per week were never compensated for the time spent working above 80 hours.

Over 35 people were found to have lost money in the wage theft violation that was discovered by state regulators.
