Police investigating after a man was carjacked at gunpoint in Long Beach

Long Beach, California – An alleged armed carjacking and shooting incident that occurred early Sunday morning in Central Long Beach is now being investigated by the Long Beach Police Department.

Officers were sent to the 1200 block of Locust Avenue at around 3:18 a.m. after receiving a report of a carjacking.

Responding officers interviewed the alleged victim after arriving at the scene. The man told them that he got involved in a verbal fight with several individuals that he did not know at a parking lot.

The victim went on to say that in the middle of the altercation, he tried to get into his car when a female from the individuals he was arguing with approached him and a male suspect took out a handgun and fired one round into the ground. The suspects then entered the victim’s vehicle and fled the scene before the authorities arrived.

Fortunately, the incident did not result in any injuries, and an investigation into the incident is underway.
