Silver Alert issued for a missing elderly person suffering from dementia

Cerritos, California – The California Highway Patrol issued a Silver Alert after a 78-year-old man suffering from dementia went missing in Cerritos.

According to the CHP, James Carroll Cox was last seen at 1 p.m. Sunday on Martha Avenue close to Briarwood Street. He was believed to be walking.

According to Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau, he was last heard from at Don Knabe Community Regional Park, located at 19700 Bloomfield Avenue, around 3:30 in the afternoon.

Authorities provided a description of Cox, saying he is a 5’7’’ white man, weighing around 120 pounds, and has a mustache, white hair, blue eyes, and a scar on his left forearm. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and jean shorts.

Anyone who has information on Cox’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.
