Suspect turns himself in after fatally shooting a woman in California Heights neighborhood

Long Beach, California – A man surrendered to authorities after killing a woman inside a vehicle in the California Heights neighborhood on Monday morning.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, a report of a person down in a vehicle came in and they sent officers to investigate at approximately 7:50 a.m. Upon their arrival, they found a woman inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso.

The Long Beach Fire Department was also summoned to the scene where they rendered aid to the victims, but unfortunately, they were not able to save her. She was declared dead at the scene.

Police said that later, an unidentified man turned himself in and is now being held in custody by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies in the city of Paramount. Officials were able to determine that the murderer and the victim knew each other. At the moment, the motive for the shooting remains unknown, and an investigation is ongoing.

Detectives from the Long Beach Police Department are interrogating the suspect.
