Shooting investigation ongoing after man wounded in Long Beach

Long Beach, California – Long Beach police are conducting a shooting investigation after a person was wounded in the North Wrigley area during a drive-by.

At about 10:52 p.m. Wednesday, police were summoned to a local hospital where they discovered a man with gunshot wounds to his lower body. According to the police, the victim had driven himself to the hospital.

While interviewing the victim, police learned that he was approached by a vehicle with at least four people inside while walking near Veterans Park in the neighborhood of Pacific Avenue and 29th Street and started shooting at him.

After the interview, officers went to the location indicated by the victim where the alleged shooting took place but were unable to find evidence of a crime scene at the time.

According to the Long Beach Police Department spokesperson, Richard Mejia, neither the motive nor the suspects are known at the moment.

The investigation remains open and anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Long Beach Police Department.
