Suspect hospitalized after LAPD opened fire while responding to a report of an assault with a lethal weapon

Los Angeles, California – Members of the Los Angeles Police Department opened fire on an armed suspect on Monday night in Leimert Park.

The Los Angeles Police Department said that at around 7:25 p.m., officers were sent to the vicinity of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Bronson Avenue in response to a report of an assault with a lethal weapon.

The officers established contact with the suspect as soon as they arrived and, shortly after, started firing at the man, who was eventually taken into custody.

Specific reasons why the officers opened fire on the suspect were not revealed.

The man, who was said to be in his 30s, sustained wounds in the shooting and was transported to a hospital. The man’s condition was described as being stable but serious.
